HISTORY
Bosses
des Bosses (1990-96)
During these years, a Chamonix-based clothing company
Burgs organised the Boss Des Bosses in their home town.
It all started as a gauntlet thrown down by Burgs in
response to a challenge made by friends in Val DIsere
that there were no good skiers in Chamonix. In March
that year 1990, the two resorts unleashed their best
mogul skiers in a head to head dual mogul competition,
in order to find out the truth. News spread. Other resorts
took up the challenge. Snowboarders and telemarkers
joined the teams, and soon Verbier, Zermatt, & Meribel
became involved in what had become an annual folk gathering
and the biggest renegade alpine event in Europe.
ChamJam
(1997-98)
With the massive growth of snowboarding, it was only
a matter of time before new categories (Boarder X, Skier
X, Big Air & 1/4 Pipe) would have to be introduced.
In 1997, a collaberation between Snowmotion was formed
resulting in increased media attention and the introduction
of a Prize giving ceremony hosted by Jay Kay of Jamiroquai
in Chamonix Town Centre. Original Sun then played an
open-air set, live in front of thousands. In 1998, the
X Course was huge. Competitors loved the courses, with
the Big Air providing an awesome finale to the competition.
On the final evening Sony acts Pressure Drop, Dave Tipper
and DJ Cam played sets on the mountain and in town.
