Diary
by Jeff Harper;
"Last
night I asked everyone to pray for blue skies and today our
prayers were answered with an amazing array of mountains.
At
around 6am this morning we saw mountains ranging from Everest
to Lots-Vey to Macaluve. I'm actually looking at them now,
they're absolutely amazing, three of the four highest mountains
in the world. Our altitude is around 5700m and these giants
are a sight to behold.
Today
was our rest day and was spent taking photographs of the wonderful
surroundings. Our sherpas decided to go ahead today and check
our route. About four to five hours later they came back with
stories of avalanches and deep soft snow. They said it would
be very difficult or virtually impossible for us to summit
tomorrow, so we are 90% resigned to getting as high as possible.
Hopefully we will reach the dizzy heights of around 6300m,
only 100m or so short of our objective. We still have amazing
views of Mera and that's it, it's been a great day."
