Diary by Marcus Tillotson;

"Today's trek involved a vertical climb of 1,500 meters. Tired limbs and heavy packs have begun to take their toll. Most of the day was spent in the misty monsoon rain. Everything gets wet and too many leeches have put the team in a thoughtful mood.

Everyone is performing extremely well. A goat was brought up today on a lead which Jeff has called William. He is to be slaughtered for meat. We have become careful not to become too attached but Kieran has been particularly friendly with our future dinner. At camp this evening, Jeff, Toby and Guy all pulled leeches from their boots and had all got sock-fulls of blood. Toby Wootton is the only person who's yet to be bitten. His time will come. The chefs continue to amaze us with their cooking. This morning they killed a buffalo and we had buffalo steak for dinner. Tomorrow we hope will be clearer weather. "
