Diary
by Jeff Harper;
"Dunda
Kharka to Chandu Kharka, after a relatively sleepless night.
For one reason or another I got up at 7am. At 7.05, Mohan
our sherpa-waiter (for want of a better word) greets us in
our tent with the words "tea-coffee sahib?". After our morning
drink we are ushered into the main tent for breakfast, as
with all our meals they fail to disappoint.
Set
off at 8.30 am with our entourage of sherpas, guides and porters
with a planned five hour half day. This half day was the hardest
day so far for the whole group, as much altitude was covered
in a small time period. We arrived at our destination, just
about five hours at 1.20, to be welcomed again by another
hearty meal and our tents. The pass climb was 4725m and from
an altitude of 3950m the oxygen levels were noticeably deficient.
Everyone, although a little weary, is fine, looking forward
to a relaxing afternoon and an early bed. Tomorrow is our
rest day."
