Diary
by Guy Wolstenholme;
"My
diary is slightly different to everyone elses, in the fact
that I havn't really been keeping a diary I've just been jotting
down some key points, really.
Day
seven was the first day that we had a bright morning. We started
in ko-la-kwarla and we had breakfast outside, it was lovely,
really nice morning, it was this first morning it didn't rain
really. Were quite high up I think we are are at 4500m. We
set off down the valley to the river, basically the trek we
were supposed to be doing didn't happen because there has
been such rain and one of the lakes upstream's banks have
broken and washed away houses and most of the bank so we ended
up side-tracking through the jungle and contouring round some
of the mountain.
The
day was quite a bit longer and muddier than planed. It started
to rain at 9.30am so it was only a bright morning. By the
time we had got to the camp site it had actually been washed
away so we ended up making are own camp site by knocking down
small trees and bushes and stuff. It was a lovely evening,
more rain, but it was good. That evening the generator and
technical equipment that we had left behind because we couldn't
take it on the aeroplane, due to petrol problems, was sherpered
over a two and a half day walk by one sherpa and two porters,
the two porters ran off and left the sherpa with all the kit
and he ended up carry it all himself. When he arrived that
evening we were amazed; he said he was almost in tears at
one point. An amazing day, and that's pretty much it really."
